Set clear boundaries for what the AI agent can do and implement controls to prevent it from exceeding those boundaries.

For example, an AI agent initially deployed to automate customer support might gradually be granted access to other systems, such as billing and CRM, without proper review. This expanded access increases the potential for misuse or compromise. Define the initial scope clearly, document it, and then regularly review and approve any proposed changes to the AI agent's responsibilities and access privileges. Every adjustment needs to be assessed for its potential impact on security and financial liability.
